This is my growing list of titles that are the most important books in the history of the world.

This list includes books of every different “genre.” Any titles that have such a name as “the collected works of…” or “selections of…” can easily be found by searching for the authors name and a publisher of the works (such as Penguin Classics or Oxford World Classics).

Additionally, I am trying to ever improve this list; thus, if you have a suggestion for a book you think should be included or excluded, let me know and I will consider making a change.

Unfortunately, this list is ordered alphabetically with the author’s first name listed first. This is not ideal. In the future, I will work on listing the author’s last name first, starting with older books and working to more recent ones (meaning, putting the books into their appropriate eras), dividing the works up into meta categories to fit in their respective ages, and including links so that all the books could be more easily purchased.

I also plan to make a shorter list of 100 top books. For now, however, and despite its vast amount of inadequacies, this must do.
